Are you ready for change? Challenging gender stereotypes – Role of men and boys
hosted by UN Women as part of MenEngage Alliance’s “Ubuntu” Symposium
Part of MenEngage Alliance’s “Ubuntu” Symposium, this session will include the presentation by UN Women of the Gender Equality Attitudes Study “Are you ready for Change?” (GEA study). It will be followed by an intergenerational dialogue on how to strengthen the role of men, male youth and boys on challenging gender-based stereotypes and promoting transformative change. The discussion will provide insights to understand the traditional male stereotypes that continue to perpetuate gender inequality while also learning from the good practices that male youth and boys organizations are playing in relation to eliminating gender stereotypes and harmful social norms. The moderated discussion will be followed by Q&A with participants. The session will also include a musical performance Fire on Fire by Masha Brodskaya of the Global Creative Initiative.
