Indigenous Women Land Defenders: Canadian State Violence and Forced Removals

The Canadian Feminist Alliance for International Action (FAFIA) and Justice for Girls (JFG) are hosting a panel discussion on Indigenous women land defenders and the efforts of these Indigenous women to protect Indigenous rights and Indigenous territories from state violence, dispossession, and environmental degradation. This panel is a parallel event attached to the Commission on the Status of Women’s 66th Session.

The panel discussion will host front line Indigenous land defenders, rights advocates, academics and activists who will share perspectives and experiences on state violence, forced removals, and the genocide of Indigenous women and girls. The panelists will discuss Canada’s failure to observe human rights obligations under Indigenous, Canadian and international systems of law.
