Meetings of the Commission on the Status of Women Begins!

The 66th meeting of the Commission on the Status of Women begins on Monday, March 14th at the United Nations, and IIWR-MB has a delegation, planning on attending (virtually) some of the many events going on during the next 2 weeks. Yes, the UN will be overshadowed by the horrific situation in the Ukraine and eastern Europe, but the threats of war motivate many to work even harder for a peaceful and just world.

We look forward to engaging with individuals and groups from around the world. The theme this year is Climate Change, Environment and Disaster Risk Reduction – but when folks get together at the CSW, there is much conversation about the many challenges facing women, girls and members of the LGBTQIA+ communities. And the actions needed to be taken.

You can participate too! You can sign up as an individual and have access to the virtual NGO Forum. You can register for the NGO CSW66 Forum and chose from over 750 events! There are also conversation circles, caucuses, and display booths to review and consider attending. There is no cost.

Please check out the IIWR-MB parallel event, Indigenizing Climate Justice: Ancient Wisdom to Tackle Climate Change, and register – Thursday, March 24, 5 to 7:00 pm, CDT, or you can register directly here. Closed Captioning, ASL and French Interpreters will be available.

For more information and background, check out CSW 66 on the IIWR-MB website, and hope to see you virtually at CSW 66!
